You deserve to feel seen, important, and safe.

Josie Wolthuis, LMSW

Transforming mental healthcare

Hi! My name is Josie Wolthuis, and I cannot wait to meet you. As a therapist, I believe that the most important part of this journey is the personal relationship that is formed between clients and therapists. Whether you have been in therapy your whole life, or this is your first time trying it, it’s important to be open to the process and find a therapist that you can be yourself with. The name Harbor Therapy was chosen because of my goal to be a place of safety and comfort for people who may not feel that way in other areas of their life.

I work with adolescents and young adults (13-35) who feel like they are ready to take the next step in improving their lives. Many of my clients are hoping to explore their identity and values, manage relationships, find ways to cope with and regulate their emotions, and just deal with regular day-to-day stressors. My goal is that in our time together, you are able to do some of those things, but also to find a place of safety and hope.

I received my Bachelor’s in Social Work from Calvin University, minoring in Psychology and Gender Studies. I then went on to receive my Master’s in Social Work from Ferris State University. Over the past 5 years, I have experienced working in residential, school, community mental health, and group practice settings.

I have training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy from the DBT Institute of Michigan, as well as CBT, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, and Mindfulness Based CBT. I am also beginning the training process to become a Certified ADHD Professional.
